We are glad to announce that the Flexible Shipping plugin was widely tested and officially recognized as WPML compatible. This means that you can use the full functionality of the plugin to set any shipping cost based on multiple conditions in stores using multiple languages and currencies. All of our plugins for displaying live rates are also WPML compatible.
Just a few weeks ago, we released the Flexible Shipping plugin version 4.4.0, which improved compatibility with the WPML plugin. Now we can announce that it has been tested and officially recognized as WPML compatible. This way we can ensure that the plugins work properly, and allow you to use their full functionality. This is especially useful for WooCommerce stores shipping to many countries, with multi-currency and many language versions.
Using the WPML plugin, you can translate shipping methods and messages from the Flexible Shipping plugin, and convert shipping costs to selected currencies. The combined operation of both plugins extends the capabilities of Flexible Shipping which allows you to calculate the cost of shipping based on many conditions such as weight, price, volume over many more.
How to use Flexible Shipping with WPML plugin?
Configure shipping method
First, install and activate the Flexible Shipping plugin. Then, go to your shipping zone and add a new Flexible Shipping method there. Next, configure that shipping method.
- Change the name of this shipping method: Flexible shipping – WPML compatible
- Add the Method Description: WPML
- Add Free shipping: 100
- Check the checkbox Left to free shipping' notice
- Add a rule in the table, e.g. Always – 10
Finally, if everything is configured correctly, save your changes.
To translate string from the Flexible Shipping method, go to String Translation: wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpml-string-translation%2Fmenu%2Fstring-translation.php. Then, choose the strings from the plugin flexible-shipping:
As you can see, it allows you to translate: Shipping method name, Shipping method description, Free Shipping Label.
To use different currencies go to the WPML Currency Switcher settings: wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpml-wcml&tab=multi-currency and the currency, and set your currencies.
The shipping cost will initially be calculated by the Flexible Shipping plugin based on the configured rules, and then converted to the selected currency in your WooCommerce store.
